Paola Rech is an Italian-Brazilian children’s author and illustrator based in southern Brazil. Her work combines vibrant colors, digital textures influenced by traditional crayon and colored-pencil techniques, and expressive characters. With a nostalgic atmosphere, emotional storytelling, and a handcrafted aesthetic, her tactile and emotionally rich illustrations inhabit the world of picture books, publishing, and licensing.
Inspired by 1950s and 1960s animation and children’s books, as well as memories of her own childhood, her work seeks to preserve the essence of a slower childhood, one where imagination, sensitivity, and contemplation still have space to exist. Her stories explore social-emotional themes and childhood’s philosophical questions in a playful and welcoming way.
With more than ten years of experience in the illustration industry, she has participated in literary events and fairs such as Comic Con Experience and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy, in addition to collaborating with independent authors, publishers, and animation projects with Mauricio de Sousa Studios and the Ayrton Senna Institute.
She is the author of Enquanto a vovó dormia (2016) and the illustrator of Sons do Dia (2024), published by Bambolê. Her most recent book, Abele e o Reino das Flores (2025), published by Paroliamo Books, tells a story about freedom and the courage to be yourself from an early age.
Currently, she works as a freelance illustrator while pursuing a degree in Education. When she is not drawing, she enjoys sewing dolls, playing the violin, and collecting small everyday inspirations to transform into stories. Her work is available for editorial projects, publishing, licensing, and artistic representation.
